Our webpage editing system
-
A vital website is a website that changes
-
Our drag and drop editing system is world class. And we are the only service that has it.
We put a great deal of effort into creating a no barrier approach to editing web pages. Our philosophy is: if you can see it you should be able to change it in seconds.
-
Main Features of our editing system
-
Easy to get into edit mode
-
We have and easy intuitive way of getting into edit mode.
If your website name is “seafoodjoeys.com” then to edit this site you go to “edit.seafoodjoeys.com”
The system will then ask you to log in. If you forgot your password you can click on the forgot password link and get a password change email sent to your email address.
So you will always have access to your site.
-
Edit things in place
-
Once in edit mode you are presented with your website as it usually appears except now its editable.
Because you are working with your site in its original form its much easier to find what it is that you want to edit. If you want to change the hours, simply drag the editor over the hours and drop it.
The text block with the hours will change into a form which allows you to edit your hours.
-
Expression and Simplicity
-
We created a drag and drop system because it allows you to do more with less.
Other page editing systems have tons of links littering the page, allowing you to “insert”, “edit”, “delete” all over the place. This creates a fairly intimidating experience for the user.
By using drag and drop we give you four or five simple options and you decide where to apply them.
When you drag and drop a Text item onto a page you are saying “I want to place some text here.” This is much different than searching for the right “insert text” link on a page full of links.
You can simply express more with drag and drop. It is truly elegant.
In addition, we are creating data objects such as menu items and events that already have a predetermined format. The system now knows that this is a menu item, it goes here and it should have a bold name. The price should be out to the right in a blue color and the description should be in italics.
As a result all of the formatting and positioning work is done for you in a simple drag and drop. The only thing left is for you to type in the few details: the name, price and description.
It doesn’t get easier than this. And we are the first to offer anything like it.

The Others
-
Systems like this are called Content Management Systems because they allow you to manage the content on your site. There are other systems for editing web pages out there.
Joomla and Drupal are two popular ones. But they are very different from what we have to offer.
These systems have several disadvantages.
-
It takes time to drill down to the item you want to edit.
You have to traverse through a system of menus to find the item you want to edit. The navigation options can be quite dizzying.
Our solution to this is to present the webpage itself so its easy to find what you want to edit.
-
The systems are not taylored
These systems are trying to be everything to everybody. This results in many flaws. The systems editing interface becomes increasingly complex as more features are added. As a result, after the systems are setup, clients don’t like to use them.
-
The systems focus on formatting text
These systems offer you complex editors that allow you to make text look anyway you want it to. Personally, we don’t want that burden. If we have to format each menu item so that it looks just right, that ends up being a lot of work.
We say enter text and let the system format it.
We focus on data. This gives us tremedous power. Our system holds structured infomation not formatted text. The system knows the names of your menu items. The system knows the expiration dates of your coupons. This allows us to use this information in new and interesting ways by formatting it differently. For example: we are currently looking at making it easy for you to print out menus from the system.
We couldn’t do this if we didn’t have structured data.

If a web design firm offers to provide you with a content management system
-
First ask them if you can try some systems that they have created.
After that then ask them how much they cost to create.
Then, please, compare their offering to ours.
